My deepest sympathies to Germaine and the Hingst family. I played rugby with Irv back in the late 1980s and would periodically run into him over the years at the Calgary Rugby Union grounds. He was always smiling and such a gentleman. Gone too soon. Rest in peace Irv.

We were so shocked and sad to hear about Irving. Our hearts and prayers go out to Germaine and family. Irving was such a great man, you just loved to be around him. Jon and I were so thankful to him, as he showed us the ropes of owning an RV, we still have the planks Irving gave us so we could level. I remember Irving for his cheerfulness, welcoming nature and willingness to help. He will certainly be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in Peace Irving!
My deepest condolences to the Germaine and the family, Irv was amazing guy with professionalism and helping others at work. Rest in peace Irv.

I worked with Irv for a few years at Bantrel at saw him at the Saddledome off and on over the years. He was a great designer and overall great guy! Rest in Peace Irv.
Our deepest sympathy and thoughts to Germaine and the girls.
My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Germain, Nicole and Chantal and the rest of the family. Irv was our beloved friend, colleague and a long-term member of the Bantrel CSA family. His humor and smiles will be greatly missed around the office.
How can you sum up decades of friendship? We will keep Irv's memory in our hearts forever. And such good memories. Like when Irv was declared rookie of the year and the look of surprise and joy in his eyes. He was a hairy and full-bearded fellow then. It didn't take long for "rookie" of the year to be changed to "wookie" of the year.
And Irv and Germaine always made guests feel comfortable in their home. The memories of gathering around their dining room table for a Saturday night fondue, followed by a long games of playing the card game "Grass" until 1 or 2 in the morning bring smiles to our faces to this day....and for years to come.
Love and hugs to Germaine, Chantal and Nicole. May your memories of Irv be a blessing.
Deepest sympathy to Germaine and family, take care, sorry to hear of your husband passing.
I worked with Irv at Bantrel and played golf with him the summer golf league.
I was very fortunate to know Irv and to call him a friend. I will miss him.
My deepest sympathies,
Maurice (Moe) Lunn
Irv. Thank you. Your care and generosity made this world a better place. Your constant smile and twinkle in your eye made those around you feel better. Thank you for being so wonderful to your family and to mine. I will always remember you with a blue can in hand, a smile on your face and loved ones in tow. Hugs and love to Germaine, Chantal and Nicole. I tip a Kokanee to you and wish you happy camping in the sky. Cheers.
My deepest condolences to Germaine and family. Irv was a highly respected leader in the civil/structural design community. He mentored many and we all called him friend. I alway enjoyed his quick wit and humour. His wife, daughters and grandchildren were his greatest joy and I cannot imagine the loss you are now dealing with. My prayers are with you all.
Sorry to heat this sad news. Condolences to Germaine and family.
Condolences to Germaine and family. This is way too soon.
I honestly don't know how long I have known Irv through work, but I can hardly remember not knowing him, which I think is a theme amongst many of his colleagues. While he was so excellent and experienced at his job, this was by far a second to the casual and friendly presence he brought to the office. It was always a pleasant diversion when Irv popped his head in your office or cubicle for a chat.
He was my twilight league golf partner and truly the only reason I subjected myself to the frustration of that game. There were highlights, but for the most part we had a knack for blowing up at the same time and we might find ourselves miles apart on the same hole, Irv having pulled a shot to the left and me slicing one off to the right, hacking our way through sand, rough, and water to finally reunite at the green. This season we had adopted the mantra, "Forward Progress", making light of some of the more awful shots. We had alot of laughs, and his laughter was especially infectious. I will miss him.
I fondly remember the day me and Irv became friends. We first met in a job interview for Bantrel. It wasn’t my best performance but Irv took a chance on me and we quickly developed a great professional relationship. It wasn’t long until we ran into other at a Sharks vs Flames game where he questioned my taste in teal. Long story short, I had a late Sunday night and called in “sick” for work Monday. When I got to the office Tuesday morning, Irv called me the second he saw I was online. I knew right then Irv had been in my shoes before and he wasn’t even upset. We had a great conversation and that was the start of our friendship. Irv always knew how to deal with people through thick and thin. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t have ultimate praise for him. I know how much he truly loved his family because that was always a main topic of our conversation. The lock screen on his phone was always a new picture of his grandkids. Irv always vouched for me. He was a great mentor, the best boss I will ever have and an amazing friend. We didn’t get to have enough time together.
Very sad to hear the sudden demise of Irv. Irv will always be in our hearts and memories. Condolences to Irv's family.
Germaine and family:
I am so so sorry to get this news. Both you and Irv have always been so wonderful to be with and the friendship shown to me after Wayne’s death will always be treasured. Living in Ontario now makes it impossible to comfort you physically but know my thoughts, prayers, hugs and love is with you all. Another wonderful, kind man has left us far too soon.

Irv was a rock. He was one of the 1st guys I met with the Rams. And I have and will always have great memories of Irv on and off the rugby field. Irv with the high knees when he ran with the ball. So determined and able to play thru pain & injury.A great captain / leader. So fortunate to be able to call Irv a friend.

Wow this is so very sad. I just saw him last month walking along Stephen Avenue. We worked together in the 90’s but we ran into each other often and he always greeted me just like he saw me yesterday. Such a lovely man and a lovely family. So very sad to hear this - he was a truly wonderful man. Condolences to Germaine and the girls.
