Irvin (Irv) Hingst beloved husband of Germaine Hingst (née Nowlan) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022, at the age of 64 years.

 

Irv was born in Swalwell, AB, on December 19, 1957. He graduated from SAIT with diploma in drafting. Irv met Germaine in 1980 through rugby and knowing she was the one they married on December 3, 1983.

 

Irv worked for Bantrel for over 20 years as a designer and draftsman and was a member of the Calgary Rams Rugby Union. Irv accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his daughters. He enjoyed camping with family and friends, playing rugby, coached his daughter's soccer team. Those who knew him, knew of his love of tinkering and wood working, especially things that would be used by his kids and grandkids. He loved spending time with family especially his grandkids. Irv’s most memorable vacations were when he went deep sea fishing in Cabo, family road trips down to the states and the Redwood Forest, as well as a Caribbean cruise with family and friends.

 

Besides his loving wife Germaine, Irv is survived by his two daughters, Chantal Hingst (Mark Driscoll) of Calgary and Nicole Miller (Tyler Miller) of Calgary; and his three grandchildren, Michelle, Francis, and Anthony Miller. Irv is also survived by his four brothers, Dale Hingst of Ontario, Dwight (Nancy) Hingst of Drumheller, Randy (Jodie) Hingst of Olds, and David (Barb) Hingst of Olds; and his four sisters, Gwen (Dale) Morse of Rosebud, Patti (Bill) Cole of Rosebud, Wendy (Andy) Mayr of Calgary, and Karen (Shane) Janswick of Warman.

 

Irv was predeceased by his mother Arlyne (Hingst) Hagel in 2021 and his father Erwin Hingst in 2005.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church (5504 – 20th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the parish hall at the church. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Hingst’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
