Irene and Family, my sincere condolences for your loss of Al (I I knew him). Always friendly in business at the Red Carpet to politics; a lover of Alberta and pursuit for good governance; willing to put his name forward to achieve those goals that would benefit all of us. Al will be missed in many circles. My prayers go out to you all at this tis time.
Mike LaBerge, Calgary.
Irene and Family, Al was my mentor and friend, he steadfastly supported two Alberta premiers throughout their tenure. He taught me when to speak and when it was necessary to stay silent and change the narrative. Al was a small business owner, he loved his restaurants and his business renovating RV’s. He was fond of entertaining, travelling south to the US and west to Kelowna. He was proud of his small business accomplishments and especially proud of his children. Al will be fondly remembered for his contributions to Alberta.
Irene our hearts are sorrowful in your loss of Alan! Our time in Brooks and the Kinsmen Club are fond memories! We loved visiting in the Red Carpet in Calgary! Deepest sympathies at this time!

Dear Irene.....It was with great sorrow that we learned of Al's passing. He was such a bright light in our lives and someone as special as Al will never fade from our hearts and memories. He lived with such passion and all who knew him were blessed by his friendship. He left an amazing mark on all those lives he touched.
Like so many others who were privileged to call Al a treasured friend, we will carry the many stories we share of him in our thoughts for all the days to come.
May your special memories of him help you and the family through this sorrowful time.

Dear Irene and Family, It's with heavy hearts and shock that we learned of Al's passing. He was a man of many talents, always a joy to be with, his fun-filled sense of humour, the life of the party, hugs and smiles all around, this was Al.
Irene, the special times we shared during your visit to our home in Pender Harbour along with the wonderful Thanksgiving enjoyed at your home in Calgary will always be cherished.
Al would often call us for no other reason but to say hi, give us the latest news and find out if we caught any fish, as fishing was one of his great passions.
We had some eventful fishing/crabbing and prawning adventures to the North BC Coast , Al in his BIG boat and us in our sailboat. In recent years, we met with Al and his grand daughter Abby, his stalwart fishing companion.
Al was truly a "Cherished Friend" who will be sadly missed by so many, however, his spirit will live on forever, Rest in Peace our Dear Beloved Al.
With Deepest Sympathy
Bill and Lyn Charlton, Pender Harbour, BC
Al Browne quote for today: A Government which robs Peter to pay Paul, can always depend on the support of Paul. (Borrowed from Will Rogers)
Dear Irene and Family,
I am shocked to see this untimely death. I knew and worked closely with Al on Policy Development for the UCP.
He was a such a pleasure to work with and I have fond memories of our ardous meetings. He also kept meticulous records.
The United Conservative Party was blessed to have him as our interim chairman of Policy.
May perpetual light shine upon him and may he rest in peace.

Another frequent Al Browne quote (with credit to whomever first made it, whom I do not know of). The problem we fact today is because the people that work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.

Dear Irene and family.
Im so sorry to hear of the loss of Al. He was a huge part of the Calgary community and I was fortunate to be on some of the same committees. I will remember him fondly and all the laughs he would bring to the room.

Irene and Family,
I was both shocked and saddened to learn of Al's passing. I had the extreme pleasure of his acquaintance/friendship over the past several years with both the Stampede Courtesy Car Committee and serving with him on the Calgary Hays Board. He was a man of many accomplishments in his community and industries! A thoughtful man with a great sense of humor. I along with many, many others will truly miss him!
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this most difficult time!
Sincerely,
Rick Skaggs
Dear Irene, so very sad to hear about Al’s passing. Our thoughts are with you. Mona & Alex Wile
Our dear Al, we have been best friends since high school and even before as you were my (Darlene)mom’s paper boy . Even after you moved away from the Hat whenever you returned to the Hat , to make my moms day you delivered her a newspaper . She loved that and your big bear hugs . You were always so thoughtful and generous . You were bigger than life .. your laughter and zest for life will be greatly missed . We will have all our memories of boating, fishing , holidays , diving, dinner parties and just great times sharing our friendship to cherish . We are not sure how to say goodbye to such a dear friend but we hope you knew how much we love you , your spirit will always be present in our hearts and lives .
Rest in peace dear friend
Love Doug and Darlene Potentier
When I think of Al, my first and overwhelming memory is his respect for everyone's right to their opinion and his commitment to ensure everyone he came across was never personally disrespected, regardless of how different their opinion may be.
That culture, in my opinion, that Al created, was the catharsis for a group of UCP Presidents, up to 37 in number, standing up for their constituencies and members, ensuring their voices were heard.
Of course Al was so many other things. He was so deeply involved in serving whomever and whatever came into his path - running a bakery in Kelowna for over a year, while his sister-in-law recovered from a serious operation. Helping others restore their RV's in time for the season, all the while lending his wisdom and knowledge to numerous boards and committees. Al was always SERVING - 24/7.
And of course, with passion and conviction, wisdom and lots of humour. I will post "Al's quotes" as I remember them in the next several days and weeks - with me for a lifetime really. The first that comes to mind: "If you think you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room". So treasured our long talks, almost daily, often over an hour long over the past year and a half. Unforgettable! He could not have led the incredible life of serving that he did, Irene, without your complete and enduring support and counsel. Sincerely, Jack Redekop
