Bill Reimchen

Obituary of Bill Reimchen

January 2, 1950 – Celle, Germany

December 10, 2022 – Edmonton, Alberta

Bill Reimchen passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 10, 2022, after a brief hospitalization at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton.

Bill was a very private, intelligent, and kind man who could be quite reserved in his choice of words.  He grew up in Calgary and after completing his post-secondary education, he and Joan moved to Fort Saskatchewan for a new opportunity for Bill working at Sherritt Gordon.  They joyfully welcomed Karen and Paul and raised them in ‘The Fort’ where they resided for more than 40 years before moving to Edmonton.  Bill enjoyed golfing and watching any televised sport, especially the Oilers.  Above all he loved summers in the sun in the Okanagan and particularly in Osoyoos, BC, staying at his parents` orchard with his mother, father, children, and visiting friends and family.

Bill will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by his wife, Joan, children Karen McDonald (John Young), and Paul Reimchen, grandchildren Isabella Reimchen and Grayson McDonald, his brother, Chris Reimchen (Wendy) and special family friends MJ Nam, Raeann Taylor-Lacusta, and Dale McDonald.  He was blessed with an extended family of many other close friends and relatives of his and Joan’s for whom he cared deeply.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Wilhelmine and Christian Reimchen, and his sister, Leane McGee.

Joan, Karen, and Paul are very grateful for the outstanding professional and compassionate care Bill received and the support provided to them by all the staff at the University Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Friday, February 10th, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
