Condolences
Mable and Ken were our neighbors for about 18 years. They watched our baby boys grow and grow and as they did,
Dylan and Johnathan, became close enough to them to eventually be asked to call them Auntie Mable and Uncle Ken. From our windows in the summertime, we all could see Mable working tirelessly in her flower garden, raking leaves, weeding dandelions, trimming grass and, while we couldn't see much of her vegetable garden in the backyard, she always thought of us at harvest time and left beet greens on our front doorstep for us to enjoy with dinner. Mable ( Ken too ) became role models to more than a few neighbors that over the years came and left Williams Place. Both Mable and Ken had zest for life and lived it by following the recipe that was adopted by us and others living on the street : Work in the morning. Play in the afternoon!
Rest in Peace, dear, sweet, blue eyed Mable. You loved. You were loved. And, in the boys words "You made good cookies!"

Mabel will be missed by the Bragg Creek Ladies Auxiliary, she was a strong supporter and a good friend. She rallied the membership and started our annual golf tradition at her course, Wintergreen. Now, we will celebrate Mabel at the newly titled Mabel Memorial Golf Tournament every June. Blessings to Anne and John Wilson for the care shown to Mabel over many years. Rest well and in peace Mabel....Bragg Creek Ladies Auxiliary
I will Miss Mabel’s infectious laugh and sense of humour. Deepest Condolences to the family, as well as John and Ann Wilson….. I will also miss the “Manhattan” happy hours I so enjoyed with Ken and Mabel. I hope Mabel and Ken are Heavenly dancing.
Condolences to Isabel, Gary and Darryl and the rest of the family.in New Brunswick. Also Condolences to Mabels wonderful friends in Bragg Creek, Alberta and Hamilton, Ontario.
Mabel and Ken often had me out to their place in Bragg Creek for Sunday evening meals or Sunday lunches. I especially enjoyed the time when she hosted my Mom & Dad and my Aunt Nellie and me for a wonderful super, when they had traveled out from New Brunswick to see me in Calgary. It was a very special time. I dont think I can travel out to Bragg Creek again without thinking of Mabel and Ken.
Mabel was a very special lady..
I saw Mabel last just before this past Christmas in her new Amica place, even then she was still thinking of others. She will be missed. From Marilyn Ganong
I had the privilege of meeting Mabel when I joined the Bragg Creek Ladies Auxiliary. I enjoyed her warmth, sense of humour and determination to keep doing what she enjoyed in spite of her health issues. She was an inspiration and clearly loved and cherished by BCLA members. Rest in peace, Mabel!

Mabel will be so missed!! She was such a joy to be around and always brightened up the room. Her stories, her enthusiasm for life in general, her laugh and smile! She inspired so many people, me included - to do better, to listen, to be a friend, to try harder, to love deeply, to be patient. I will cherish forever my memories of Mabel. Rest in peace, dear lady, now reunited with Ken.
Mabel was a wonderful, fun friend! Her joy of life and her sense of humor was an inspiration to all. Despite her living through some hard times, especially the loss of her beloved Ken, she still found joy in her friends, family and life. I loved spending time with her and listening to all her stories. Her Manhattan's, Ken's secret recipe, were so tasty and served with great pride. Ted and I will continue to toast Mabel while enjoying Ken's Manhattans. I will miss Mabel's friendship always, but take great comfort she is now with her Ken. Mabel was quite a gal!
Mabel was a very dear friend of my mothers from the time she arrived in Hamilton. Her and my mother Enid (Murchie) Bartolini shared many adventures, some I was told, others I’m sure they’ve both taken to the grave. They both served in the Reserve together, my mother was in Recruiting at the Hamilton Airport and Mabel was in Security based downtown Hamilton.
Mabel was in my parents wedding party and Mabel was a part of my life from the time I was born. She was always ‘Auntie Mabel’. She would babysit my brothers and I and ‘coke floats’ were always part of the fun. We travelled as a family with Mabel down to her family home in New Brunswick in the 60’s and stayed at the homestead and got to know her brother Ken and his wife Izzie and their kids and they in turn became like family. Many great memories made on that trip and years later when my husband and I travelled there I found the house from memory not GPS.
Mabel shared in all our family weddings always making a trip to Hamilton to be part of the ‘family’. Mabel was also included in the ‘Hen Party Girls’ aka FLC, friends of my moms that had started as young girls getting together and continued on, they celebrated each other’s weddings, then babies, then the kids getting married and having kids and sadly shared in the losses of the girls, spouses and some children.
I was lucky enough that I was able to make 2 trips west to visit, first was in 1996 and spent great time visiting with both of them, Ken did give me a bum steer though on saying it was okay to stand near a huge Elk near Banff Springs, when the elk stomped his foot, Ken got a great exit picture of me moving away! Mabel and I made the trek to West Edmonton mall and had a fabulous lobster Thanksgiving dinner. My next trip was in 2018 after Ken had passed away, we spent a lot of time talking and purging.
Mabel will be missed by our family, there have already been a few times I reached for the phone and realized I can’t call her anymore.
RIP Auntie Mabel, the Hen Party Girls have been waiting for you.
Love Christine
Mabel was a sensational friend! It was always fun to hear her share stories of her travels with Ken, their chosen life in Bragg Creek, and the challenges of her later years. She was a great storyteller, but also a fantastic listener. I will miss our conversations,
fond memories of her 90th birthday party, golf tournaments with Ladies Auxiliary, and her famous Manhattans! She had such a
zest for life and for having fun at the same time. A true lady!
Mabel was our neighbor in Bragg Creek since 2006. She was a bright light and an inspiration. The news of her passing was very sad for our family. We became neighbors when our daughter was 6 months old, and Mabel delighted in seeing Katie grow up. We delighted in her outgoing and happy nature, and we will remember her always as a very dear person. Now she is with her beloved Ken in heaven.
I am so sad.
I will miss my Auntie Mabel, she was my Mom’s baby sister.
Our phone calls were really important to both of us, good talks and great laughs. These calls happened often.
We had a great visit in Vancouver when she and Uncle Ken were on one of their trips, this time for a cruise to Alaska.
Rest in peace Auntie Mabel. Love, hugs and prayers. I miss you.

In loving memory of a very dear sister and aunt who will be sadly missed..for ever in our prayers .may she rest in peace. Isabel and Darryl Wanamaker
So sorry to hear this news. She had been looking forward to putting flowers on the balcony near her room. Glad I went to visit when I did. Hope you’re enjoying a jolly round of golf with Ken!
Whenever Aunt Mabel let the family know she was coming back to NB for a visit, I would count down the weeks then the days! I always looked forward to going over to visit her, when she arrived at Aunt Izzy's, and to watch her and Izzy play 45's with mom and dad (Brenda and Dave). She would tell us about the trips she had taken with Uncle Ken and the golf games she played. She would always have several decks of cards to give out that she collected whenever she went away on one of her trips. I looked forward to the yummy treats she would make for us to eat and the laughs we would have during cards. I'm thankful that she got to meet my fiancè Scott during her last trip to NB.
I will miss your visits, hearing your laugh and receiving your Christmas card every year. Rest easy Aunt Mabel ❤

We thoroughly enjoyed my husband's Aunt Mabel when she visited her original home in Hampton. It was a delight to hear about her adventures around the world, making it seem like an armchair trip. Playing cards with her and her sister-in-law, Isabel, was a
regular event when she stayed. We had a lot of laughs together which we will certainly miss .Our family will remember her fondly in our hearts and thoughts. Rest in peace Auntie Mabel.
