Condolences
Jeff and Family
Someone as special as a mother is never gone from this world. May you still see her smile in your mirror and hear her voice singing in your heart. May you find strength in all of the wonderful memories together. Donna was a rare and beautiful soul, and we feel so blessed to have known her. Our condolences to you and yours as you go through these tough times

Andrew and I were so fortunate to have experienced Donna's incredible "Martha Stewart" level hospitality every time we came to Calgary with Michael. I have such good memories of the house filled with Bates and Brodie family members. She was the ultimate hostess and her memorial was a fitting a tribute. I'm sure she was smiling down from heaven.
I always enjoyed listening to her stories of the boys growing up, and the humorous banter back and forth between mother and sons as they recalled the events. And I shared her fondness of genealogy and puzzles. So it was a treat on the odd occasion when she would be at her kitchen table and look up from the Calgary Herald crossword and ask those around to help out with a clue...though the answer would usually come to her before it did the rest of us. :-)
Her 80th birthday extravaganza in Banff was so much fun, filled with great memories. It was great to have been a part of that celebration and to have known Donna and her fabulous family. Donna, may you rest in peace, and to all of Donna's loved ones, Andrew and I send you our best.
Wonderful to watch Donna Bates inspire six sensitive, intelligent men through many years of living, always as a poised, beautiful, kind yet powerful woman. Solutions were a natural part of knowing Donna & Dave, Rock Paper Scissors at dinner time to see which young man was doing the dishes that night is one example.
Donna and your family Eternal Blessings of joy and Love for living an inspirational life,
Yes, even the memory of Donna is Powerful, Beautiful and Kind.

Sending our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your lovely Mother & Grandmother--she will be remembered with lots of fond memories--Love from your MB family--Keven, Gail, & Elden Jr
When the doors of the Bonavista home swung open you were greeted with the largest bowl of popcorn you’ve ever seen!
And usually a nice plate of crispy bacon!!
Great memories. RIP Donna.
While I never had the pleasure of meeting Donna, I have had the pleasure of working and become good friends with her son Michael. Please allow me to express my condolences to the whole family during this time.

Donna was one of the classiest and kindest people I’ve ever met. Always impeccably put together, she was truly one of a kind.
I’m so grateful for all of the wonderful holidays we spent at aunt Donna and uncle Dave’s — they were always a highlight of our summer travels! Heartfelt condolences to all of you boys and your extended families. She will be missed and remembered with great fondness and affection.
With love,
Carly, Mike, Sadie and Preslie Moran (Smith)
