Obituary of Elmer Florian Stang

May 28, 1941 – Primate, Saskatchewan

January 25, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Elmer Stang, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the age of 81 years.

Elmer Florian Stang (Also know as Fudd) was born to Elizabeth and Peter Stang on May 28th, 1941 (although he often convinced the family that he wasn't sure what day he was born, so they would celebrate on both May 27th and 28th).

Elmer was amazing with his hands, he could build/invent almost anything. He was not one to sit still, even after retiring from carpentry, he would putter around the complex where he and his wife lived, fixing anything that needed fixing, he was the resident in-house unsolicited superintendent. Elmer's generosity was felt by many, if he saw someone that needed help, he was always there. No one knew that more than his wife Carol, before and after undergoing her lifesaving double lung transplant, Elmer was continuously by her side and her greatest champion. He loved her so much that you could find him on the golf course, rain or shine weathering Carol’s years long passion for the sport, without even a grumble.

Elmer came from a large and loving family of 16 brothers and sisters. Almost every year, the Stangs and extended family would gather for a family reunion. This was Elmer's happy place. He loved singing dancing, joking, and laughing with anyone who would join him.

Elmer is survived by his sons Jeff and Clay (Liz); his grandchildren Otis and Es; his brothers, Eddie, and Joe; and sisters, Leona, Lorraine, Sharon, and Judy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that all cared and supported him through the good and rough times. His warmth, generosity, and infectious smile (and signature dimples) are his legacy and ones that will carry on through all that loved and knew him.
