Obituary of Victor Ronald Nielsen

August 24, 1950 - February 12, 2023

Calgary, Alberta

Victor “Vic” Ronald Nielsen, passed away at 72 years old on Sunday, February 12, 2023, after a nine-year battle with cancer. The courage, heart, and resilience that Vic showed while under siege was an illustration of the way he lived his life. He will be remembered as a devoted husband to Pat, proud father to Erin and David, known as grandpa “uh-oh” to three young grandchildren, that he spoiled greatly, and by countless friends and acquaintances that were lucky enough to cross his path.

Vic was a native Calgarian - born at the old General Hospital on August 24, 1950. He grew up under humble means as a proud Alberta-boy, he ultimately self-fund a Masters Degree in mathematics at the University of Calgary. Along with a career in information technology, Vic had a passion for running, walking, steak-dinners (with a fine Amarone), the NFL (just not the Cowboys), spaghetti Western movies, sudoku puzzles, New Zealand and mountain journeys.

There are no appropriate words that can describe the sadness in his passing or reflect the positive impact he made on the community.
