Obituary of Gerald Church

Gerald (Gerry) Church passed away peacefully in Calgary on Tuesday January 19th, 2021 at the age of 84. Gerry was born at Strathclair, Manitoba and moved to Calgary at the age of 14. Gerry worked odd jobs until he found his passion in the oilfield industry working for GP Drilling where he apprenticed as an electrician. Gerry earned his Master Electrician designation in 1967 and started Academy Electric in 1968. Academy Electric was a successful family business for over 50 years. Gerry is survived by Keith (Shawna), Stewart (Marsha), Tracey (Steve), 12 grand children and 6 great grandchildren. Gerry is predeceased by his loving wife of over 62 years, Donna, and his eldest daughter, Treva (Earl). At dad’s request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to a Children’s Hospital of your choice. We wish to thank all the staff at Academy of Aging/Fish Creek Manor for their diligent care. Gerry will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
