Obituary of Glenn Clifford Lackey

December 30, 1935 – Fillmore, Saskatchewan

February 22, 2023 – Calgary,

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Glenn Clifford Lackey. Glenn died suddenly on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the age of 87 years.

Glenn was born in Fillmore, Saskatchewan, on December 30, 1935, to his parents Stella Wiggins and Clifford Lackey. Glenn and his wife Violet moved to Calgary in 1958, where Glenn started his journey in the hospitality business. He worked in several hotels (York, Sheraton, and Beacon) prior to opening his first restaurant at the Trans Canada Motel. Later, he moved to the Port O’Call Inn until 1980 when he opened “Glenns Memories Bar”. He went on to open seven other food and beverage establishments. Glenn had a kind soul, always willing to help anyone who needed it. He loved to meet with people just to chat and was always interested in what was going on in your life. Glenn loved baseball, wintering in Phoenix for spring training, then spending summers at Sylvan Lake with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved cooking, tinkering and fixing things, and playing pool (he was a shark); but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and his dog Auggie. Glenn was a family man, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a warm heart with a gentle demeanour, frugal yet generous. If you needed a pen he always had one for you.

Glenn will be lovingly remembered by his children, Claire Lackey, Jacqueline Troughton (Frank), Kelly Lackey; sibling Darwin Lackey, grandchildren, Zach Terlier (Krista), Kristin Lackey (David), Courtney Lackey, Kelsy Gabriel (Sean); great-grandchildren Camerra, Kenzie, Raya, Aurora and Kade; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Glenn has gone to join his beloved parents Stella and Clifford, wife Violet, daughter Robyn, granddaughter Tamerra, and brothers Herman and Claire.
