Condolences
My condolences to his family and friends. I had the pleasure of knowing Doug because of work but found knowing him was far more than just about work. Doug was a kind soul, always the optimist, and had a huge caring heart. He will surely be missed by all.
My condolences. Doug was an amazing man. I got the opportunity to know Dough thru summer work together for 7 years and a personal relationship for nearly 10. The purest heart and the happiest person ive known. Thru out the years working together Doug has became a mentor and kinda a father figure. The advise he gave me from the experience he has had really helped me pave my career path and keep my sanity.
I will definitely miss the laughs but im so grateful for all the memories and advise i had the opportunity to recieve. Got nothing but love for you Doug. You made the world a better place with everyone you had touched
Dear Jackie, Glendon, Graham, Charlotte and Emmie.
I just learned of Doug's passing this morning and I am very, very shocked and saddened by this. I have known my co-worker and my friend Douglas for at least 28 years, going back to the old Cominco/Agrium days. We spent countless work hours together, traveling the three prairie provinces plus B.C., going in and out of anhydrous ammonia vessels. And of course, when the day or evening work was done, breaking bread and having a few brews with him and the rest of our crew was the norm. I liked Doug and got along with him quite well. Just writing this now, I can hear his familiar voice and distinctive laugh and it brings out a smile in me.
The last time that I had contact with Doug was in May of 2021, to pick his brain on a previous job that we had done together in the distant past, as Doug always had a great memory when it came work activities. I've often thought of Doug and will continue to do so, but I sure would have liked to have the chance to share a couple of beer and his good company before he passed on.
If at all possible, I most certainly would like to be in attendance for Doug's celebration of life whenever that happens.
I leave my most heartfelt condolences to all who knew, and all who loved Doug.
Sincerely,
David Tompkins
