Obituary of David Ernest Wright

David Ernest Wright, beloved husband of Lindy (Elliott) Wright and father of Kieran and Mathew Wright, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 6, 2023 at the age of 72 in Calgary, AB.

David was an incredible soul, who was dedicated to his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors; he loved to fish, hike and travel. He loved all kinds of classical music, historical novels and Irish folk songs, classic cars, hockey and tennis and the news. David was always happy working on home renovations, of which he did many, and spent hours troubleshooting to make sure his work was just so. He was always busy, always had projects on the go and never gave up when presented with problems. David was a millwright who worked at Standens from 1990 until he retired. Previously he was employed in the merchant navy in the UK.

David is survived by his wife Lindy; his two sons, Kieran and Mathew; sister Pauline; brother Brian; sisters-in-law, Catherine and Nicola; and brothers-in-law, Mark and Greg; as well as nieces, Kai, Charlotte and Maddison; and nephews, Grant, Oliver and Benjamin. David leaves behind many dear friends from the UK, Canada and South Africa. David was predeceased by his parents, Irene and Len Wright of Glenfield, UK, sister-in-law Sally, of Naples, Florida, and brother-in-law Gary.

David you will be missed more than words can express. You were my life, my husband, my rock, my best friend and one of the most decent human beings I've ever met. I have always loved you and always will. Good night my darling, may you rest in peace.

I would like to express my thanks to the staff in the ALS clinic at SHC, the ALS Society, Homecare, unit 78 and Emergency at SHC. There are angels on this earth.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
