Virginia,
We were all so sorry to hear about Byng's illness, and he will be greatly missed. He was such a lovely person and it was a joy to work with him for all of our engraving for all these years. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Virginia, Megan, Becky + Heather (+ families), you have been blessed to have had Byng in your lives.
I met Byng when we were both on the worship team at CAC. His beautiful voice, gracious personality + wacky sense of humor are what I recall when I think of him. Byng stepped in without hesitation to help me out at work when I broke my shoulder. He unselfishly gave of himself, with no thought of his own needs. I am humbled when I think of what a good + kind man he was.
Dorica and I send our deepest sympathies to Virginia + the girls. Words cannot adequately express how sad we are to have received the news of his passing. But we are secure in the knowledge that he is with his Lord and is not suffering anymore. Byng truly was a beautiful soul and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
In 1988, Byng and I met through work, and it wasn't long before he was a cherished friend. We worked very closely together for 15 years. Byng sang beautifully at our wedding , and as time went by, our families grew close. He often joked about having an all female family right down to Bailey their dog. Not that he would have wanted it any other way.
Byng enjoyed spending time with our son Calum after he was born and he loved his Uncle Byng very much. As he turned 2, we were living with Byng and Virginia, whilst we built a home to come join them in Cochrane. Byng's generosity knew no bounds.
Calum, like many 2 year old boys , was obsessed with tools and machines. Uncle Byng gave him a blue wrench for his birthday, a real one !! Calum is now a 24 year old BMW mechanic, who still treasures his blue wrench from Uncle Byng.
I too treasured the gifts Byng gave ; his sage advice, his time & help, boundless friendship and generosity.
My heart breaks for Virginia and the girls. I know their immense faith is helping them deal with their tragic loss. Thank you all for sharing him, it was the greatest gift you could have given anyone who knew him.
Byng was one of my biggest cheerleaders when I led the music teams and choir at Cochrane Alliance Church. I remember his laugh even now. And he paid his highest complement to me, telling me I sounded just like Sandi Patty (even though I would have much rather sounded like Lauryn Hill). Thank you Byng, for supporting and encouraging me and keeping life light with laughter. Sending love and prayers to Virginia, Megan, Heather, Becky and the whole family. And Byng - this one's for you: https://youtu.be/3auPFZW0RBg
I have a few pictures of Byng from our choir tour through the Rocky Mountains but they are in storage, he was always so much fun to be around and was larger than life. I wrote a poem once which he quickly put to music and wish I had still. He was a gift to many and was musically talented and definitely the kind of youth leader a kid needed at that time in life. A gentle soul with a big heart, he was a faithful servant of God touching lives on so many levels . Thank you Byng you will be missed and the memory of you will always be treasured! And to Virginia, their children and spouses and grandchildren sending you love
“He will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain. All of that is gone forever.” Rev. 21:4
Byng - kind, gentle, humble, encouraging and hysterically funny. Always so much fun to be around. A true example of the transforming power of Jesus in a man while he lived his life here on earth; gone too soon.
I have many wonderful memories of Byng while attending the Nazarene youth choir.
Byng was the "class clown" always making sure we were laughing and having a great time.
One of the most memorable moments for me was, we often went out for snacks after church or after a friday youth night.
On this particular night Byng was extremely excited and wanted to show us his new found talent. So we all proceeded to go to MacDonalds to partake in this highly anticipated event. As we all sat with great anticipation, Byng proceeded to explain to us that he recently found out he could place a whole entire Big Mac in his mouth WITH room for a few fries. We all sat and watch this great man complete this amazing task and were in total awe of his abilities!!! Wow he truly is an Amazing dude with unbelievable talents! It was yet another epic moment in the history of Byng Olive an amazing event of which we speak of still to this day!
Thank you Byng, you were an amazing human always with a smile, a big heart and a huge laugh making sure all of us wild and crazy kids were doing okay.
You will be greatly missed dear friend. Until we meet again thanks for the memories, the laughs and the epic moments, but most of all thanks for being you. Love always Michelle McIvor
