 May 11,1958 - Calgary, Alberta

March 18, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Byng Olive, of Cochrane, AB, passed away peacefully at Dulcina Hospice in Calgary, on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the age of 64 years, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Byng was born in Calgary, AB on May 11, 1958.  He attended Western Canada High School where he actively participated in its music and drama programs. He became involved in the youth choir at First Church of the Nazarene where he met Virginia whom he married in August 1980. Byng and Virginia served many years together in the youth and music ministries at First Church of the Nazarene, Cochrane Alliance Church, and Springbank Community Church.

Byng was a self-employed engraver for over 45 years, and most recently worked for Cochrane Awards and Promotions.

He is remembered for his generosity, his kindness, his unique sense of humour, and most of all for his endless love of Virginia and their beautiful family. They made many precious memories together as a family at their vacation properties in Invermere and Kelowna, BC.

We rejoice that Byng is now forever in the presence of Jesus; healed, whole, and home!

Byng is lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Virginia, and their three daughters, Megan (Calvin) Mix of Olds, AB, Becky (Randall) Heier, and Heather (Tim) Francisco of Cochrane. He was adored by his six granddaughters, Carly and Cami Mix, Olivia and Gwen Heier, and Laura and Cece Francisco. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Trevor (Elisabeth) Falk of Owen Sound, ON, his sister-in-law Jane Falk of Calgary; his niece Amelia (Eric) Falk and nephew Geoffrey Falk; as well as numerous cousins and treasured friends.

Byng was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Gladys Olive, his father and mother-in-law Willard and Ruby Falk, his brother-in-law Murray Falk, and by an infant brother.
