Obituary of Gertrude Annette Brown

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gertrude “Trudy” Brown (nee Wilger) on Friday, March 17, 2023 at the at the age of 83 years.   

Born on March 8, 1940 in Watson, SK, Trudy grew up on the family farm with her three brothers. She attended school in Englefeld and Watson. She then attended St. Thomas More College at the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. Upon graduation, she continued her teaching career in Edmonton and Calgary, where she was a loving mother and teacher for many years.    

Besides her loving husband Doug, Trudy is survived by her two sons, Loren (Lisa) and Dean (Tanya); three grandchildren, Ryley, Wyatt and Tyler; her brother Wilfred (Rosa); and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Maria Wilger, and brothers, John and Helmut. 
 
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow in the Church hall. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Trudy’s Mass streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in lieu of flowers, those interested are encouraged to contribute to a charity of their choice.
