Obituary of Jane Geng

November 15, 1948 - New Liskeard, Ontario

March 25, 2023 - Airdrie, Alberta

Agnes “Jane” Geng (nee Tapping) born November 15,1948 in New Liskeard, ON, passed away in her sleep at home on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the age of 74 years. Jane had just returned home from a 10-day hospital stay and was determined to get back her independence and pick up where she left off. From all accounts observed she was doing just that! This took us by total surprise, and we are shocked and sadden with the loss of our sister, aunt, and friend.

After getting her BA from University of Guelph she enrolled in Ontario Teachers College in London. She began working with Yellow Pages in sales and advertising and used her teaching passion to train other sales reps all around the world. Carrying her strong understanding of how advertising works she moved to Edmonton and began working with Western Living Magazine then Business in Edmonton magazine and eventually slowing her work life down moved to Airdrie to work for a local newspaper and be closer to family.

Jane was passionate about many things. She loved her garden and spent wintertime planning what she wanted to do in spring. Her garden gave her so much joy! She stayed on top of news and issues around the world. Her birds were a source of entertainment as her feeders were full 365 days of the year.

Her most significant lifetime passion was her Bouviers with Abby. Their life together began with an engagement gift of a Bouvier. From there they built together a wonderful line of beautiful dogs under the Abbishire Kennel name that excelled in the ring and as companions in the home. From their love of purebred dogs, she and Abby travelled to shows and built strong friendships that to this day remain and feel the same loss as the family does. Later, she decided to mix it up and added an Old English Sheepdog puppy to her life in London. Soon she had two Old English sheepdogs who brought countless hours of entertainment and joy to her life. Dogs were her family she missed them tremendously when they passed on to rainbow bridge, but we can take comfort she is with them all now.

Jane has left behind treasured siblings, Jeff Tapping and Sally of Aurora, ON, Dan Tapping and Cathie of London, ON, Julie Kowal of London, ON, Ginny Price and Al of Airdrie, AB, and Wendy Sandwith and Paul of Grand Bend, ON, as well as many loved nieces and nephews. Each of us will find our own ways through this sad time and cherish what Jane meant to us. Some of us feel a new star is burning brightly in the sky and others feel Sis Jane leaves a trail of glitter and will never be forgotten as a sister who made the bad times good and good times unforgettable..

Cremation was with McInnis & Holloway in Airdrie and in living memory of Jane a tree will be planted at the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area. We look forward to celebrating Jane’s Life in August in Airdrie area with family and friends and her ashes will return home in the fall to Ontario.
