Obituary of Kerry Angus Hope

February 27, 1934 – Edmonton, Alberta

March 28, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Kerry Hope, beloved husband of Yvette Hope and father of Lorraine (Dale), Kevin (Wilma) and Karen (Doug) passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2023, at the age of 89 years.

Kerry was born in Edmonton, AB, as the eldest son of Lulu and Harry Hope. His family grew over a twenty-year span to include three brothers: Ron (Ruth), Carol (Don), Betty Lou (Bill), Ian (Linda), Dennis (Lynette) and Darcy (Bill). At only seventeen years of age, he married his junior high sweetheart and lived to celebrate 72 years of marriage.

Kerry was quickly employed out of high school by BA/Gulf. From the BA warehouse in Edmonton, to the BA Port Moody Refinery, to the Gulf corporate offices in Toronto and then BeauDril in Calgary, he climbed the ladder retiring at 52.

He had the opportunity to spend the next 35 years in retirement spending a large percentage of his time travelling and volunteering with St. Gerard’s, St. Vincent de Paul, Inn from the Cold, and the Knights of Columbus. His dedication to these groups has already been missed.

Kerry was the life of any party. He offered unlimited hugs and could tell the best jokes. He also loved to sing. He was in a high school trio with Robert Goulet.

He was a dedicated family man whose life was blessed by his wife Yvette, his three children, six grandchildren; Kelly, Maureen, Jonathan, Kyle, Reed and Kaitlyn and five great-grandchildren; Ava, Audrey, Rylan, Cohyn and Flora.

Kerry was one-of-a-kind. He will be fondly remembered by his family and many, many friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
