Obituary of Adolf Brunnhofer

May 1, 1951 - Waltersdorf, Austria
April 2, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Adolf “Adi” Brunnhofer Jr. on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the age of 71 years. Adi was surrounded by his long-time partner Angela, daughter Stephanie, sister Monika and her partner Don, and niece Adele. Much-loved, the family shared memories, spoke to family in Austria (where Adi was born), played music and shared laughs – Adi's sense of humour was one of his hallmarks. He passed peacefully.

The day before, Adi had been playing music with his friends. Music, skiing, cycling, and motorcycles were just some of Adi's passions and via these, he had many lasting friendships – and even more stories. Talented, funny, and intelligent, Adi is sorely missed by all who knew him and especially his family. Adi was so proud of his three-year-old grandson Felix, who brought delight and joy to his life. His mother Erna (age 94) frequently sees photos of Adi and smiles.

A Celebration of Adi’s Life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

His family wishes to thank Dr. Daniel Heng and the Tom Baker team at Foothills Hospital. He fought a two-decade-long battle with cancer in which his courage, strength and resilience was remarkable.

As Adi often sang and wrote in birthday cards,
"Always look on the bright side of life."

In living memory of Adolf Brunnhofer, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
