Condolences
Aunt Shirley , opened her home to Sandra , Claire and myself in the early stages to my joining the Drake family. The three of us spent our visit with Aunt Shirley and Uncle Red. It was my first time in Alberta , I couldn’t get over how flat it was, but truly was thankful for their generosity. She had told us we were going to go to , what was called “ Little China Town “ for lunch. I was looking forward to it as I LOVED Chinese food. Well……….I soon found out what it really was !! At that point I had only ever had “ the Canadian “ version. Let’s just say , I left hungry ! I guess after that I always asked if I got invited for Chinese food , if it was Canadian ? Every time Aunt Shirley visited Nova Scotia after that it brought back memories of my first introduction to this sweet lady , and my first visit to Alberta. Rest in peace Aunt Shirley, I will miss your visits.
My condolences to all of Shirley's family and friends. I treasured her friendship during the years i got to know her with the OIL WIVES CLUB of CALGARY!!
Dear Colin & Family,
We are very sorry to learn of your dear Mom, Shirley's passing. We have fond memories of being neighbours in Wildwood back in the 70's and 80's. Your Mom was a "breath of fresh air" and had such a contagious laugh and a wonderful sense of humour. May you be comforted with happy memories of your Mom and know she is watching over you from above at this sad time.
Sincerely, Gary & Sherron Haden & Family
Sincere condolences to the family.
"If something makes you sad when it ends,
It must have been pretty wonderful while it was happening." (Quote from TV show: This is Us)
A memory of mine, I will never forget:
When searching for our family members, Uncle Noel and Aunt Shirley were the first that I found on our Mother’s side. I recall the day as if it were yesterday. Here is a brief recollection:
Knocked on the door of a home that I did not know looking for Colleen Margaret Morris Bradbury. Long story made brief: Mom was Uncle Noel’s sister, I am a daughter, Hey “I’m your Uncle!!! They invited me in, fed me a light supper, had a visit, and Aunt Shirley was so gracious and kind. I remember her laugh, her voice, and her smile. Such a wonderful lady!!!
I will remember Aunt Shirley forever!!!
