Obituary of Joanne Joyce Schindel

November 26, 1939 – Edenwold, Saskatchewan

April 8, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Joanne Schindel (nee Triffo), beloved wife of Ken Schindel, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the age of 83 years.  

Joanne was born in Edenwold, SK, on November 26, 1939 to Alma and Rudolph Triffo. She moved to Regina, SK, in 1947 and then Calgary, AB, in 1998. Joanne married Ken in 1962. She was particularly proud of all her family.

Earlier in life her passions were ceramics and petite point; lifelong passions were canning and baking. She loved flowers and in fall she loved canning. She loved cooking, making bread, buns, cinnamon buns, and sharing them with everyone. As for sports Joanne loved curling whether it was watching or playing it.

One of Joanne’s favourite trips was when she went to Seattle Washington, USA, with her aunt and uncle to visit her cousin. She was fortunate enough to go to Hawaii, USA, three times and met many people, who she continued to keep in contact with.

Joanne will be most remembered for her big heart. She adored her nieces, and nephews. She loved all kids whether you were the kid next door or the kid at the mall.

Besides her loving husband Kenneth, Joanne is survived by her daughter Shelley, two brothers Ken (Wendy), and Harley of Regina, SK; One sister Eileen (Bob) of Calgary, AB; and two brothers-in-law Denis (Sharon), and Mel (Coral) of Weyburn, SK. Joanne is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and great neighbours.

Joanne was predeceased by her parents Alma and Rudy, her parents-in-law, sister-in-law Bonnie Triffo, and brother-in-law Alvin Schindel.
