Obituary of Patrick George Franklin Evans

January 28, 1987 - April 9, 2023

Patrick George Franklin Evans (Bet Azé Dené Yu – Outside Man), passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023 in Vancouver, BC at the age of 36 years.

Patrick was born in Calgary on January 28, 1987. They went to Western Canada High School; graduated in 2005 and continued their studies in chemistry, biology and art history at the University of Calgary and the College of the Rockies. Patrick was a published, self-taught artist with a discerning eye for color; each painting told a story. They were also a gifted writer and were in the process of writing a book about their struggles and their quest for healing…

Patrick was an accomplished swimmer, lifeguard, diver (deep water and sky diving), snowboarder and especially surfer, and their pursuit of these activities took them around the world. Patrick made friends wherever they went and had the ability to touch another directly in their heart – one only needed to listen to receive their love. They enjoyed their cats, dogs, flowers, plants, and nature in all its glory – especially the water.

Patrick is survived by their father, George Ross Franklin Evans (Renee) of St. Adolphe d’Howard, Quebec; mother, Dr. Diane Evans of Calgary; brother, Michael James Franklin Evans (Monica); and nephews, James Evans and Robson Evans of Calgary. Patrick is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario and Alberta. They are predeceased by their paternal grandparents, George and Frances Evans, and their maternal grandparents, Cornelius and Wilhelmina Van Kroonenburg.
