Obituary of Clare Jane Adams

June 17, 1929 - April 25, 2023

Clare Adams passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 93 years.

Clare was born on June 17, 1929, in Goderich, Ontario. She was the first of two children to Margaret and Dr. William Martin. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Adams in 1948 and shortly thereafter moved to Toronto before they started a family. Clare was a wonderful wife and mother raising their three children. Clare loved the arts, and she was always active in the community. Bob and Clare were very happy in Calgary and developed many close and lasting friendships after moving west in 1974. They loved an active lifestyle and the move to Calgary provided the opportunity to spend many enjoyable years skiing and hiking in the mountains with family and friends. She took up the game of golf in her late 40’s and tremendously enjoyed being a member of the Calgary Golf & Country Club. Clare also devoted herself to fundraising in order to build the Calgary Centre for the Performing Arts and was a founding member of its board of directors. Clare loved to entertain with Bob at their beautiful home on Dorchester Ave in Calgary over the decades. Her accomplishments in the kitchen were legendary to which her children and grandchildren can attest. Clare enjoyed travelling to Mexico in the winter for many years with Bob after he retired.

Clare is predeceased by her loving husband Bob, and son-in-law Steve Eprile. She is survived by her three children, son Drew (Leslie); daughters, Janice, and Brenda; three grandchildren, Liam (Vanessa), Sasha (Vincent), and Cameron; and two great-grandsons, Griffin, and Oliver.
