Obituary of Gordon Lee Harris

Gord Harris, of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the age of 66 years.

Gord was born in Oyen, AB, on December 4, 1956.

He moved to Calgary, AB, in 1966.

Gord graduated from SAIT with a degree in Power Engineering just after High School. He pursued a career in the Oil and Gas industry working at the Balzac Gas plant for 30 years, before transitioning to work up North with StatOil. While with StatOil he was involved in the construction of the plant from the ground up. He got to oversee the project, and watch the plant come to life, where he would work the rest of his remaining days before retiring in 2016. 

Gord married his High School sweetheart Roberta Harris (nee Willis) in 1978. Gord accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his children, his wife, and the life they built together.

Gord enjoyed golfing, travelling, attending Hitmen hockey, spending weekends at their cabin, quadding, playing games, and having a cold beer with friends.

Gord got the opportunity for many corporate, and personal trips. Getting to experience firsthand an offshore rig in Scotland followed by a trip through Europe with his wife. Gord and his wife got to enjoy many trips, and cruises getting to experience little bits of the world together, and with friends. Gord felt most happy when spending time with friends, and family.

He will be most remembered for his love, kindness, loyalty, strength, sense of humor, and his strong opinions when it comes to matter of politics.

Besides his loving wife Roberta, Gord is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Bobby-Jo and Gary of Airdrie, AB; son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Annalise of Calgary, AB; two grandchildren, Xander, and Oliver, Airdrie, AB; as well as numerous reptilian and fur grandchildren.

Gord is also survived by his sister Valerie Staples (nee Harris) of Kelowna, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gord was predeceased by Benjamin Harris, Dorthy Harris, and William Staples.
