Obituary of Shawna Lee Lawson

November 25, 1962 – Flin Flon, Manitoba

Shawna Lawson (nee Stonehouse), of Okotoks, AB passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the age of 60.  Shawna was born in Flin Flon, MB and was the beloved wife of Art Lawson.

Shawna was the daughter of the late Margaret Taylor and Ron Stonehouse.  Shawna is survived by her brother Derek (Kim) and nephews Taylor, Quinn, and Wade; as well as four stepdaughters, Kathleen (David), Shannon (Peter), Alexandra (Andrew), and Mary Elizabeth (Matt).  She was the grandmother of thirteen grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Adam, Megan, Sarah, David, William, Ryan, Kayla, AJ, Luke, Regan, and Finley, and two great-grandchildren, Maeve, and Liam.

Shawna will be most remembered for her intelligence, fun laugh, and sense of adventure.  Shawna was a dedicated volunteer and was the past Chair of United Way Okotoks Partnership. Shawna loved to camp, and she travelled the world for both work and pleasure.

Shawna’s career included 10 years in Asia building new trade and investment relationships – often meeting with leaders of nations and corporate executives. The final chapters of her career were here in western Canada, mainly in rural Alberta.

A Celebration of Shawna’s Life will be held at Okotoks Beach House (403 Milligan Dr, Okotoks, AB) on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory to the United Way Okotoks Partnership or the Canadian Cancer Society.
