Dear Shane and Valerie, I went to school with George and always remember how happy and filled with energy he was, I always enjoyed seeing him around the highschool. I am so sorry for your loss.
To all of George's family.... I am so sorry for your loss.
I was a cadet with George at #22 Undaunted and he was an amazing person to know. He will be missed
Dear Shane and Valerie,
So shocked and saddened to hear of your tremendous loss. I remember fondly George in my grade one class, his single minded focus on all things dinosaurs and determination in learning ! Your support in his education combined with his determination lead to continued success throughout his elementary years. I wish you peace at this difficult time. With sincere sympathy, Leslie-Ann Sartison
I am so grateful for all of the opportunities I had to work and study alongside George in university. He will always be remembered as a wonderful, kind, and caring person who worked hard and supported his classmates. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
Shocked and saddened to hear this news. I had a cordial relationship with George in High School, we shared a passion for music and I remember talking to him about new releases like it was yesterday. Although I didn’t know George very well, I knew he was one of the good ones. Every time I ran into George we recognized each other by name, and I only wish I had made more of an effort to get to know him. Good luck George, you’ll be missed more than you’ll ever know.
Very sad to hear! George was a ray of sunshine and was an amazing person. I am so glad I got the opportunity to meet him though the cadet program. Rest easy
My sincere condolences to George's friends and families. I did not know George too well, but I was in a couple classes with him at MRU and he was such a sweet and nice guy
I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear this. George was truly a 'poster child' for the cadet program. He was dedicated, hardworking, talented and a bright light amongst his peers. Sincere condolences to his parents, extended family and friends. He will be missed by many, gone way too soon.

George was a very kind soul and his sense of humour was infectious in school. I will remember him fondly and hope there is some comfort found in the lasting affect that his spirit has had on so many people.
The Parder family is remembering George as a fun loving, humorous and caring person. We knew him mostly in his early school years, hanging out with our son Jordin in playground mischief. Our love goes out to Val, Shane and family. God bless, Craeg, Trish and Jord
I didn't get to know George well enough despite knowing him and having classes together since Junior High and High School. He always had a vibrant energy, a smile on his face and knew how to lift up those around him.
George was someone that brought me some of my fondest memories from high school band class. He had such a big heart and an infectious personality. I was fortunate enough to visit him during one of his stays at FMC and am so blessed I had that opportunity to see his face one last time. George, on behalf of myself and the rest of your band mates... we are all so proud of the love and warmth you brought to us. You will forever be in our hearts... rest easy, friend.
George was one of the kindest, most genuine people I knew. We ran into each other frequently after high school and right before Covid. Whether it was MRU, the Saddledome, or the train station, he always made time for a good conversation. It was a joy to be in his presence. When I was first considering upgrading my education, I messaged him asking about his experience, and he gave me the motivation and confidence I needed to take that step. I will miss the constant flow of memes in my DMs, his music recommendations, his humour, and his overall carefree gentle nature.
Sending love and thinking of you all,
Sarah Ireland

George lit up the hallways at school, and was always so kind and outgoing with everyone. His positive energy and love for the Flames was undeniable. I am so sorry for your loss.

George was such a determined, hardworking & thoughtful individual! He also had such a sense of humour and amazing resiliency! From excelling at trumpet, leading the band, or doing his solo camping trip in the woods, George put his heart and full effort into everything he did! I am so sorry to hear of his passing and will look back fondly at the memories (but ma’am all of a sudden the knife cut me!)! - Shona Reilly
I was lucky enough to work with George a handful of times at Mount Royal University, and often found myself gravitating towards him as we both shared similar interests, such as hockey and our gripes as Flames fans. During our time as peers, George never failed to inspire me through his unwavering positivity and dedication to his craft: sports writing. I'm incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of my classmate, the halls of Mount Royal's O-Wing won't be the same without him.
Sincerely,
Matt DeMille
To George’s family,
My condolences on the loss of your son, my classmate and fellow journalist George. I had the privilege of being in a few classes with George at MRU. George’s kindness, humour, and love of sports journalism will truly be missed.
May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Hajar Al Khouzaii
George was one heck of a morale boost, persistent, honest, & kind.
I’m glad & grateful he shared some of what time he had with the Corps, he added a lot to folks all around.
I never had the privilege of meeting George in person, but the two plus years of us being friends because of our shared passion for talking and writing hockey will never be forgotten. George messaged me out of the blue to work alongside me at The Intermission Sports. The second he joined he brought a smile to the entire team’s face with his funny hockey memes and Calgary Flames banter. I send my deepest condolences to the entire Potter family.

I was so lucky to have had the opportunity to teach George in several courses at MRU. In my classes he exuded kindness, a wonderful sense of humour, a positive energy, and determination. He always strived to do his best and inspired those around him to try just a little bit harder as well. I offer my sincerest condolences to all his family and friends as my heart aches for your loss. The world has lost a truly special soul in George. His light and spirit will be greatly missed.
