Obituary of Diane Pauline Wazny

February 24, 1949- Vancouver, British Columbia

May 19, 2023 - Cochrane, Alberta

Diane Wazny beloved mother and grandmother, of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at the age of 74 years.

Diane was born in Vancouver, BC on February 24, 1949 and she moved with her family at a very young age to Flin Flon, MB

Diane graduated from the School of Nursing at Victoria General Hospital as a Register Nurse in 1970. After raising her family, she was able to go back to school and renewed her nursing license, specializing in Geriatrics. A field she worked in for many years before retiring in 2010.

She was an avid member of the Kinette Club in The Pas, MB, a young person’s service club. They raise money and do community service projects.

Diane had a passion for crafts. As a Homemaker, she spent many hours creating, when she wasn’t seeing to the needs of her family. Diane created a space for all ages to tap into their creativity, with a recent focus on crocheting. She made blankets of all sizes for everyone she knew. Granny also loved baking goodies with her three grandchildren.

Diane loved to travel. Some of her favourites were dressing up in Montreal, relaxing in Cancun, and fishing in the North. Diane’s most memorable vacation was when she was whisked away by her best friends for her 60th birthday. They took her on a surprise trip to Las Vegas, NV.

There are only two types of music in this world according to Diane: Country and Western.

She will be most remembered for her quick wit and ready advice. Diane was always available for a long phone call or a snuggle and a chat. Not one to be exceedingly serious, she could turn any frown upside down with a smart retort.

Diane is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Kelowna, BC; her son, Trevor Cochrane, AB; and three grandchildren, Taylor, Tori, and Tristan, Cochrane, AB. Diane is also survived by two brothers, Edward Woloshyn and Robert Woloshyn and families; sister, Carole Norowsky and family; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Diane was predeceased by son, Michael; parents, Daniel and Pauline Woloshyn, and brother Donald Woloshyn.

A private family service will be held. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
