Condolences
We will remember Pat as an encouraging, fun, kindhearted and competent soccer coach for our daughter, Susan's, Chinooks soccer team. As parents we are very grateful for Pat's supportive and positive influence as a coach and friend for many years.
Well done Pat! Rest in peace. Jim and Vivian McFarland & family
I met Pat at the Calgary Regional Planning Commission which was my first job after University. The first thing I noticed was his kind twinkling eyes and his warm wit and chuckle. He was also deeply respected for his intelligence and insight in planning issues. I am honored to say that he was my friend while there. I ran into Pat at my daughters soccer game many years later and once again was struck by his kind and twinkling eyes. I am sad to read that he has passed and so sorry for the loss that is experienced by his family and friends.
We met Pat the first time we came to Canada and multiple times after.
My sincere condolences to the family with this tragic loss.
Johan Mulder.

I had the pleasure of being a friend and colleague of Pat while working at the City of Airdrie. It was impossible to dislike the man and I believe he was the only man alive without an enemy. He and I used to banter about hockey versus soccer. He would get up early, early in the morning to watch European soccer games and I’d ask him the score. It was usually 1-0 and I couldn’t fathom how someone could get up so early for such a low score! Rest in peace, my friend, and may your women’s soccer team in heaven never lose! Knowing that God has a sense of humour too, Pat may start out coaching an Edmonton hockey team!
We're all going to miss you my dear friend. "Tantric" was always such a joy to hang out with. His wit was hilarious and his jokes could turn you inside out. Pat lived a very purposeful life and was admired and loved by all his friends and his wonderful family. Much love, fair winds and following seas my friend.
When I started my first full time Planning job at the City of Airdrie Pat was there to welcome me with humour and to make sure I didn’t take myself too seriously. I will always remember his expressions, the nicknames he assigned to people and how encouraging he was to me and my colleagues. May he rest in peace.
My condolences to Pat's family. I had the great good fortune to share many years with Pat serving the City of Airdrie. Everyone he came into contact with could count on his fearlessness and humour in explaining to errors of their ways. Many of the things I learned from Pat years ago still shape the way I approach planning issues and beyond.

I am so sorry to hear about Pat! I had so often over the last 50+ years thought about him - wondered where he was living , wondered and tried many times to get in contact with him all not successful.
Pat and I were roommates at Ridley College for four years. We had a lot of fun together and I so clearly remember his great sense of humour ! If his brother Bill would like to get ahold of me I would be very grateful.

I’m deeply shattered by the passing of Patrick. I’ve known him since Strathcona Boys School days. Grew up knowing the whole family because of the generosity of Mr & Mrs George McMahon . Later in the 60’s @ Ridley College , we shared accommodation in Dean’s House.we’ve been in communication all these years . I have many memories & will sadly miss his humor & smile . Condolences to the whole family . Fraser Burton

Many good memories of Pat including his Schnauzer joke. I enjoyed his limericks most. He invented a nickname for me (UB) as he did for many others. Pat was classic and he will not be forgotten.
I am so sad to hear of Pat's passing. He was an amazing man with the biggest, kindest heart. I have many fond memories of working with him at the City of Airdrie. There were many days where his "Patisms" would leave me in stitches and brighten the day. My deepest sympathies to the McMahon family. He will be missed by many.
My condolences to everyone that new and loved Pat. I had the pleasure of working with Pat for many years and will always remember his great sense of humour and jovial character.
My sincerest condolences to the McMahon family! Pat was a fine man in all areas, as a professional planner, mentor, father and friend! I remember the amazing poems/ode’s he would write for staff on special occasions. A caring, intelligent and patient man. The best of them! Good-bye Pat. The world is a smaller place without you.
