Obituary of Rose Mary Schwartzenberger

March 14, 1953 – Melfort, Saskatchewan

May 21, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Rose Mary Schwartzenberger (nee Kun) beloved wife of Aloysius (Al) Schwartzenberger of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the age of 70 years.

 

Rose graduated from the Robertson Secretarial School and Mount Royal College with a degree in Petroleum Land Contract and Administration Certificate. She worked for more than 25 years at Imperial Oil Resources and then XTO Energy before taking early retirement.

 

She was a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Land Administration and the Prairie Schooner RV Club. Rose also volunteered with Marlborough Park Community Association, and with Brownies, and Girl Guides.

 

Rose loved gardening and camping. Rose loved being an aunt and a great aunt but the promotion to grandma was one of her greatest joys.

 

Rose is survived by daughter Tina (Darren) Zakowsky of Calgary, AB; son Tyler Schwartzenberger of Calgary, AB; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Jenna Zakowsky; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Rose is also survived by her three brothers Steve (Peggy) Kun, Melfort, SK; Alec (Ethel) of Melfort, SK, and Nander of Prince Albert, SK; four sisters Margaret Boissiere, St Brieux, SK; Emma (George) Laczko of Melfort, SK; Doris Roenspies of Melfort, SK; Gloria (Wade) Hemm, Saskatoon, SK; brother-in-law Ray Schwartzenberger of Kamloops, BC; sisters-in-law Jeanne Schwartzenberger of Calgary, AB and Bobbi Schwartzenberger of Saskatoon, SK.

 

Rose was predeceased by her husband Aloysius (Al), parents Mary and George Kun, her two brothers Billy and John Kun as well as her sister Helen Kun.

 

Rose and Al's door was always open. They will always be remembered for having the biggest hearts and for being kind to everyone.

 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 6:00 PM.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Dr NE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM. 

 

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Schwartzenberger’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
