Obituary of Santiago Nicolas Nadeau

Our beautiful Santiago “Santi” Nadeau passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from a tragic accident near Great Falls, Montana, at the young age of 21 years old.

 

Santi was born on January 6, 2002 in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Leyvis Peña and Sébastien Nadeau. Shortly before his fourth birthday, he moved to Calgary, AB. At almost eleven years old, he became the best-brother-in-the-world to his newborn sister Sarah.

 

He attended the School of Alberta Ballet, where he received both dancing instruction and academic education. For many seasons, he was a member of Alberta Ballet’s the Nutcracker cast.

 

He was a student at Robert Warren middle school and E.P. Scarlett high school from 2016 to 2020. Yup, that is the generation that could not properly celebrate their graduation… Nevertheless, he made most of his greatest friends during his years at these schools.

 

He enrolled in the Canadian Army’s Reserve in 2019. Private Santiago Nadeau achieved his BMQ in July of the next year and was a member of the 41 Combat Engineer Regiment.

 

Pursuing his dream of becoming a Cinema Director, he joined the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Film and Video Production program. Santiago didn’t achieve his dream but got a tiny taste of it from working on several film and advertisement productions, mainly as an Assistant Cameraman, or AC as he would call it.

 

May 2021 marked the month he met Allison, the love of his life. They had an immediate and profound connection. They had the chance to live, travel and dream together.

 

Our beloved Santiago leaves behind his partner Allison Mac Murray; little sister Sarah Nadeau; mom Leyvis Peña; dad Sébastien Nadeau; grandparents, Myriam Barthe, Gerardo Peña, Lyse Nadeau and Edinson Labandera; aunties and uncles, Fanny, César, Anne-Marie and Julie; cousins, Martina, Federico and Romane; mother-in-law Andrea Mac Murray; sister-in-law Lhea Mac Murray; and many friends who have been blessed by having him as part of their lives. Santiago has initiated his next journey simultaneously with his father-in-law Ernie Mac Murray.

 

Movies and Army were two important aspects of his life. We will honor both by celebrating Santiago’s life during a Military Service held at Canyon Meadows Cinemas (13226 Macleod Trail SE Unit 110, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Santiago’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. Nuestro hermoso y amado Santiago “Santi” Nadeau falleció el domingo 21 de Mayo de 2023 a causa de un accidente trágico en las afueras de Great Falls, Montana, con apenas 21 años de edad.

 

Santi nació el 6 de Enero de 2002 en Montevideo, Uruguay, hijo de Leyvis Peña y Sébastien Nadeau.

Cercano a cumplir los cuatro años de edad, Santiago se mudó a la ciudad de Calgary, en Canadá.

 

Ya casi cumpliendo los once años de edad, se convirtió en el mejor hermano del mundo luego del nacimiento de su pequeña hermana Sarah.

 

Fue alumno de la escuela School of Alberta Ballet, donde recibió en simultaneo instrucción relacionada con el ballet y clases académicas.

 

Fue estudiante de la escuela Robert Warren (grado 9) y E.P. Scarlett (grados 10 a 12) desde el año 2016 hasta 2020. Fue parte de la generación que no pudo festejar su graduación de forma apropiada y merecida. De todas formas, en esos años fue que Santiago formó su grupo de mejores amigos.

 

En 2019, se unió a la Reserva del Ejército Canadiense. Completó su Basic Military Qualification en Julio del año siguiente. Era miembro del Regimiento 41 de Ingenieros de Combate.

 

Buscando cumplir su sueño de ser un día director de cine, ingresó al Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, y su programa de Producción de Film y Videos. Si bien Santi no ha tenido tiempo suficiente para cumplir sus sueños, ha tenido la oportunidad de trabajar en producciones de películas, publicidades y video clips, principalmente como Asistente Camarógrafo.

 

Mayo del 2021 fue el mes en que conoció a Allison, el amor de su vida. Una inmediata y profunda conexión se ha producido entre ellos ni bien conocerse. Tuvieron la chance de vivir, viajar y soñar juntos.

 

Santiago deja atrás a su pareja Allison Mac Murray; su pequeña hermana Sarah Nadeau; su mamá Leyvis Peña; su papá Sébastien Nadeau; sus abuelas y abuelos Myriam Barthe, Gerardo Peña, Lyse Nadeau, Edinson Labandera; sus tías y tío Fanny, César, Anne-Marie y Julie; sus primas y primo Martina, Federico y Romane; su suegra Andrea Mac Murray; su cuñada Lhea Mac Murray; así como numerosos amigos quienes fueron bendecidos con compartir sus vidas con él.

 

Santiago ha iniciado su viaje hacia una nueva vida junto con su suegro Ernie Mac Murray.

 

El mundo de las películas, así como el ejército fueron partes importantes de su vida. Estaremos celebrando la vida de Santiago honorando ambas facetas de su vida durante una ceremonia militar que será llevada a cabo en los cines Canyon Meadows Cinema (13226 Macleod Trail SE Unit 110, Calgary, Alberta, Canada) el sábado 3 de junio a las 9 am de Calgary (12 pm en Uruguay, 5 pm en España y Francia).

 

Familiares y amigos que no puedan atender en persona podrán visualizar online y en vivo la ceremonia de celebración de la vida de Santiago.
