Condolences
Blair was always a special friend to me. A best friend.
We met in grade 4 and kept in touch over the years with many monthly phone calls. It was uncanny; I would think “I’ve got to phone Blair” and then a few minutes later Blair would call me. I am sure he was a mind reader!
We both enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. We had many good times duck hunting, fishing in places like ice-fishing west of Edmonton, and summers in Uranium City, East Kootenays and in the Okanagan.
For many years after Blair retired, he would come to Victoria in the winter and stay with Sheila and me for a month or so. When in Victoria we walked almost every day, sometimes had lunch with my old work friends and went to local gun shows.
My wife and I also spent time visiting Blair when he lived in Vancouver. I often stayed with him when I attended gun shows in Calgary.
He also came in the summer to go fishing and camping. While camping, Blair always kept the fire burning and kept the water pails full. He was a good cook too.
I have always admired Blair’s love of nature, sense of humour, and optimism. He was friendly and committed to his family.
In all, we have been great friends for years and I miss him dearly.
