Obituary of Donna Mae McCoy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Mae McCoy (nee Moore), of Calgary, AB, on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the age of 68 years. Donna passed surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Donna was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be incredibly missed by everyone who knew her. Donna was born in Calgary, AB, on March 27, 1955, and was raised on a farm just outside of Gleichen, AB. After graduation, she spent a short time in Calgary, AB, moved briefly to Carseland, AB, and then settled permanently back in Calgary, AB. Donna worked tirelessly as a general and production accountant for 45 years. Her work ethic was legendary.

Since retirement, Donna loved reading, difficult puzzles, and spending time with family, and friends. If you were lucky enough to be Donna’s friend, you were her friend for life. She was tremendously kind, generous, and thoughtful, and inspired the same values in others. She would be the first to offer help to loved ones in any situation. As well she loved spending time travelling with her many family, and friends.

Donna is survived by her daughter Brandy Lagunay (Allan), step-daughter Laralee Graham (Allister), and grandchild Allie Graham. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Audrey Routledge (Derek), nephew Trevor Hampson (Nancy), nieces Andrea Derksen (Rick), Stacie Enns (Curtis); great-nieces Elizabeth Hampson, Hayley Enns and Trinity Derksen; great-nephew Stuart Hampson. Donna was pre-deceased by her parents William (Bill) and Edna Moore, her two baby brothers, and her oldest sister Marie Hampson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Cameron and the staff of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their compassionate care. We would also like to acknowledge the endless support of Donna’s neighbor’s Teresa, Roger, and Stephen for all the help they provided over the past three years.
