Obituary of Nathan Karl Rose

March 7, 1997 - Brampton, Ontario

June 1, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Nathan Rose beloved husband of Brianna Rose (nee Taylor) of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the age of 26 years.

Nathan is survived by his beautiful daughters, Alisson and Amelia; his father and stepmother, Chad and Sherri; his mother, Jennifer; his siblings, Amber, Ryan, Faith, Sadie, and Matthew; his grandparents, Berkley, Daisy, Susan, and Sue; and his nieces, nephews, Aunt, and Uncle.

Nathan was born in Brampton, Ontario on March 7, 1997 to Chad and Jennifer Rose. Nathan resided in Orangeville, Ontario for most of his young life before leaving to join the Canadian Armed Forces in September 2015.

While attending elementary and high school in Orangeville, Nathan was an exceptional student, athlete, and friend. He was a straight-A student for most of his academic life, played competitive soccer for many years with Orangeville Minor Soccer Club, and was an avid supporter of Liverpool FC. He had a strong sense of right and wrong which, coupled with a no-back-down personality, would often have him ’sticking up for the little guy’, even if the little guy happened to be himself. 

Nathan grew up in a big family and truly valued togetherness and family traditions. It was always the little details that mattered to him. He was a wonderful son and big brother, often taking great pride in the accomplishments of his parents and siblings and always quick to stand up and be a protector if the need ever arose. This is who he was at his core and who he would always continue to be.

It was during this time in Orangeville that Nathan met Brianna, first as his friend, and eventually to become his partner, confidant, and loving wife.  Nathan and Brianna were married in August 2018 before becoming wonderful parents to their two daughters. They lived and built their life together in Orangville, ON, Brandon, MB, Shilo, MB, and finally in Calgary, AB.

Growing up, Nathan had a wanderlust that extended far beyond the narrow confines of the small town that he lived in. He always expressed a desire to do more, to be more, and to see more. He wanted to right the wrongs of the world by sticking up for those that were unable to do so themselves and decided the best path for him to realize this was to become an Infanteer with the Canadian Army.

He was honoured to serve within the 2^nd Battalion, Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) unit in Shilo, Manitoba. He would often talk about his ‘brothers’, what they meant to him, and the ongoing desire to have their backs and ensure their safety in all situations. Some of his proudest memories included being deployed with NATO Peacekeeping forces in Latvia, being one of a company of 80 personnel selected to assume ceremonial duties as the Queen’s Guard in London, United Kingdom, and being recognized and awarded for his efforts and “leadership ability that exceeded his current rank” while fighting forest fires in Canada.

Along the way, never one to sit idly and complacently, Nathan received a certificate of general arts and science from Algonquin College and was working towards completing his diploma.

Nathan loved gaming, the outdoors, hiking, and, most of all, his family. His two beautiful daughters changed the way he saw the world and they would become the most important things to him. His face would light up when he spoke of them, often proudly discussing their new achievements or laughing about being a parent to a couple of sweet and mischievous toddlers. He loved them dearly and was very proud to be their father.

Nathan touched many lives, and accomplished many things in such a relatively short time.  He will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him. YNWA.
