Obituary of Jean Holter

November 27, 1935 - Dodsland, Saskatchewan

June 12, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Agnes Holter (nee Sillars) of Calgary, AB, on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the age of 87 years. 

Jean spoke fondly of her years growing up on a farm near Plenty, SK with her parents, older sister, and two younger brothers. She attended Briercrest High School, then nursing school in Brandon, MB. Jean travelled with her best friend to nurse in Belfast, Northern Ireland and Seattle, WA and had many happy memories of her time working abroad. She met her beloved husband, Milton (Scottie) in Nipawin, SK and married in 1962. In addition to their main residences in Sherwood Park and Calgary, Jean and Scottie had the opportunity to live in various small towns in BC, as well as Ferndale, WA, as Scottie pursued career opportunities. Mom was always an active member of her church and was happiest when visiting with old and new friends and relatives. Jean’s warm heart and gentle spirit will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, friends, and family members.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Scottie of 56 years and granddaughter, Clara. She is survived by her son Terry (Yoshiko); daughter Heather (Markus): Ella and Erik; and daughter Shauna (Shawn): Oliver. 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday June 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
