We have only just heard the sad news of Heather's death in June after a Christmas card we sent her was returned and we found this obituary. Our hearfelt condolences go to all the family.
We first met Heather and Les when Stuart started working at EVDS in 1990. We arrived in Calgary from the UK with Joe (3yrs) and Ben (6 mths) and we were immediately 'adopted' by Heather and Les, who continued to look after us and become dear friends over the next 17 years. We enjoyed visits to Water Valley, Heather took me out for lunch on my borthday every year, and they hosted Stuart's mum many times during her annual visits from Wales. After we move to Lancaster in 2007, we always kept in touch (Heather making sure to phone on my birthday!) and they stayed with us one time they visited the UK.
Heather was a kind, generous and sincere friend. She always maintained her British sense of humour and we shall remember her with enormous fondness.
