Oh Vince, I do have many fond memories of you! I can still see you standing over Mom’s wood cookstove making rice porridge in the dutchie for our breakfast, it was delicious and I’ve never tasted any quite like it since. Thank you for introducing us to the Jamaican culture and cuisine.
Sometimes you offered sound advice when I needed it, other times you spoke in old sayings and metaphors that to this day I’m not fully sure I understood.....”everyday bucket goes down well, one day bottom fall out”......”the one who feels it, knows it”.....”today for you, tomorrow for me”......
I will refrain from posting the naughty Jamaican Patois that I learned from you!
Vince was a great Step-Dad to my sisters and I and he will always hold a special place in my heart.
My husband Dax and our daughters (Kayla and Keely) were quite fond of him as well.
Vince was well liked in the small town we grew up in and he was held in high regard as a diesel mechanic in the North Bay and area.
My heartfelt condolences especially to his biological children Sonja, Simon, Joseph, Maggie, Lisa, Nicole and to all of his precious grandchildren. Vince will be greatly missed and fondly remembered!
