Obituary of Vincent Roy Gordon

Vincent Gordon of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 26, 2023, at the age of 87 years.

A proud Maroon, Vincent was born on April 4, 1936, in Portland, Jamaica. He immigrated to England and eventually settled in Canada.

Vincent was a proficient dancer who’s love for dancing kept him at the dance hall until the early morning hours until the pandemic started. Vincent is survived by his children, grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

As per Jamaican funerary tradition, “Nine-Night” will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the family home in Calgary, AB. Friends are invited to celebrate with the family including Vincent, who will be in attendance.  Those in attendance are asked to observe “Nine-Night” tradition, by abstaining from wearing any dark colours, the more vibrant the better.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Vincent’s service streamed live on the day of the service at www.MHFH.com. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos may also be shared and viewed there.
