Condolences
Bert was a pleasure to get to know. I had the honour of working with him and helping him for a few months as a care giver. We had many laughs and such great conversations. I really feel my time with with Bert will never be forgotten. We are always told not to get too close to our seniors, but I can’t say this news came to me lightly. I will truly have a special spot in my heart for Bert! From Amanda
Greatly appreciated Bert helping me. I loved his sweet laughter.
May he Rest In Peace.
Hugs to you all. Bert was my sister Lisa's god father (along with Cecile) many many moons ago. My dad was Lorne Mercier, a very good friend of Bert's in his Jager days and somewhat after. Both Lisa, and my mom and dad have since passed. Brett & Colin, I have fond memories of Friday night parties and sleepovers while our parents sang Karaoke before karaoke was cool - we were so young but I haven't forgotten you both. On behalf of my sister, Tina and myself, we are so sorry for your loss ...

I’m very saddened to hear of Bert’s passing. We started our friendship when we first met at school in our mid teens, at the time when he was known as Bernd.
Bernd was always such a character. He would probably be classified as a genius in many ways. He was well liked by me, by my family and by our small circle of friends in those days.
He always used to say “There’s a right way to do things, a wrong way, and then there’s my way”.
He was always thinking and doing many things well outside “the box”.
We kept in touch over the years, but now I regret not having much contact with him in the last few years.
Deepest condolences to your family.
Miss you old friend.
