I’m very saddened to hear of Bert’s passing. We started our friendship when we first met at school in our mid teens, at the time when he was known as Bernd.
Bernd was always such a character. He would probably be classified as a genius in many ways. He was well liked by me, by my family and by our small circle of friends in those days.
He always used to say “There’s a right way to do things, a wrong way, and then there’s my way”.
He was always thinking and doing many things well outside “the box”.
We kept in touch over the years, but now I regret not having much contact with him in the last few years.
