Obituary of George (Bill) Taylor
May 7, 1944 – Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
July 5, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
George William “Bill” Taylor, beloved husband of Sheila Taylor, peacefully passed away, Wednesday, July 5, 2023 after 38 years with kidney disease (IgA Nephropathy).
Bill was born on May 7, 1944 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and spent the first 6 months of his life in Saskatchewan/Alberta before moving to England with his family. At the age of 13 his family returned to Canada in 1957 settling in Calgary.
Bill worked at the Calgary Zoo while attending Colonel Walker Jr. High & Western Canada High schools. He met his wife Sheila Manion in 1963 and they were married on September 17, 1966.
Bill will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Sheila; his sisters Beverley Wright (Glen) and Marilyn Knott; sister and brother-in-law Noreen and Richard Kary, and sister-in-law June Manion; eighteen nieces and nephews (three predeceased); and many members of extended family, and wonderful close friends.
Thank you to all those who lives Bill has inspired and touched.
The family wish to extend special thanks to Dr. Samuel Schorr (Nephrologist), Dr. Lauf (Family Dr.), Dr. Mydlarsky (Dermatologist), Viola and the RNs at Northland Dialysis Unit, Dr. Kamar, and Dr. Fishbook (Palliative Care), the RN’s & HCA’s who cared for Bill during the past 9 months on Unit 27 (Hemodialysis) and Unit 37 (Nephrology). A special thanks to Crystal, RN for being so readily available on July 5.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Taylor’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
