Walter Proche of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the age of 87 years.
Walter was born in The Pas, Manitoba on March 30, 1936, and moved to Winnipeg, MB to attend university. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Chartered Professional Accounting and became a member of the Chartered Accountants of Manitoba and Alberta. Walter married Ella Johanne Petersen on July 11, 1959, and together they had two sons.
Walter had an outstanding work ethic and accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of solving business problems. He had a passion for the dance academy and enjoyed watching competitions.
He loved his time spent mining for gold in Northern BC with his dear friend and colleague Bruce Wrightson, but his most memorable vacation was when he spent time with his boys camping and skiing in Banff and will be most remembered for his love of his two sons.
Walter is survived by his sons, Derek (Langley, BC) and Jens (Denver, CO) and daughters-in-law, Joanne (Langley) and Julie (Denver, CO); and two grandchildren, Samantha and Connor, Langley and Vancouver, BC. He is also survived by his one sister, Diana in Millbrae, CA, and by his girlfriend Denise Lake of Calgary, AB. Walter was predeceased by his loving wife Ella Johanne, and his parents, Mary and Harry Proche of The Pas, MB.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6), on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with Walter’s family here.
