Shelley Cook

Obituary of Shelley Irene Cook

June 7, 1950 – Yorkton, Saskatchewan

July 11, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Shelley was born on June 7, 1950, in Yorkton, SK. The youngest of three children of Herbert and Irene Vickers. She passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the age of 73 years and will be sorely missed.

She and her family lived on a farm outside of Bredenbury, SK until 1954 and then moved to Calgary where she attended school and eventually graduated. Life was tough sometimes for Shelley, she had migraines and arthritis, but she did not let it define her character. Through it all, she remained positive, cheerful, thoughtful, and kind to others. A wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, Shelley was an awesome cook and loved to bake for her family and friends.

In her younger years, the Vickers and Morrison families got together to celebrate many holidays with games, music, dancing, and pictures. So many happy memories made over the years. Shelley loved going to Shuswap Lake, every summer she enjoyed it with family and friends. Just laying there in the sun, taking everything in, that was after all the work was finished. Shelley will be missed by everyone.

Shell was blessed with her long-time friends, Nettie (Delta, BC) for 60 years, Kim (Calgary, AB) for 30 plus. That was the type of person she was. Rest in peace Shell, for now you are no longer in pain or suffering and have entered Heaven with the rest of your family. For this, we have peace of mind. You are an angel now in Heaven but were an angel on earth too. Love you forever and a day!

Besides Ed, her common-law husband of 23 years, Shelley is survived by her son Jeff Cook (Calgary, AB), stepdaughters, Carrie Silver (Calgary, AB), Stacy Ross (Hermitage, PI), and Tracy Holland (Halifax, NS). She was predeceased by her sister Candace Marshall.
