Condolences
I want to offer my sympathy to the Webster and Tomaszeski families on the passing of Gladys Webster who played many parts in these two families, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, protector, and provider. She became part of my life almost 57 years ago starting with my accidental meeting of her sister, Diana, whom I married in 1968. From the very beginning she and her sisters made me feel that I was part of their extended family and I am forever grateful to her and them for that. Gladys and Jim met with family members including Diana and I on many occasions, most happy, some sad, in Calmar, Edmonton, Leduc, Wetaskiwin, Calgary and even the distant and exotic Hawaii. These were times when we indulged in golf games, holiday meals, midnight masses, the arrival of Santa Claus, late evening conversations, drinks and table shuffleboard games at the Calmar hotel, VLTs in Leduc before visiting Sophie and Tom in the retirement home, and free pineapple slices at the Princess Kaiulani hotel in Waikiki. My memories of Gladys and Jim in Hawaii are especially strong because along with Bill and Edna we often met them in their room in the Ohana East to play the card games, 31 and King Pedro. When Gladys and I lost early in these games we often talked which was fun because she was easy to converse with. I was lucky to have her as a supportive family member across those many years and events. Jim Forest
We send all the family our condolences. Sadly Gladys had no quality of life in the last year or more of her life, but we will remember the good times we shared and the generous person that she was. We spent many happy hours with Gladys and Jim at Rosen Lake and had several holidays together, a trip to Reno and San Francisco, a holiday on the big island of Hawaii and a wonderful Mediterranean cruise. We know you were ready to leave this world Gladys, so Rest in Peace.
