Obituary of Gladys Alfreda Webster

July 21, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Gladys Webster (nee Thomaszeskii/Berube), beloved wife of the late James Webster, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the age of 90 years.

Gladys and her three sisters lived on a farm until 1947 when the family moved the farmhouse to Calmar to operate a service station business. Gladys and her sisters also worked there. After graduation, she moved to Calgary working as a bookkeeper.

Gladys married Allan Berube in 1953 at the age of 20, together they raised three sons, Russ, Wayne, and Darren, until Allan’s passing in March 1975.

Gladys married James Webster in 1980. Jim’s family included four of his children; Linda, Caron, Kim, and Colin (Alicia). The Webster/Berube clan was formed. Jim passed away in February 2018.

Gladys is survived by her children, Russ (Ann), Wayne (Carlene), Darren (Donna), Linda, Caron, Kim, and Colin (Alicia); and her grandchildren Brad (Ylmer), Aaron (Melynda), Kailey (Miguel), Dustin (Erin), Shelby and Carter, Joellen (Trevor), Brent (Alicia), Michelle (Mark), Chris, Fabiola (Orin), Andrea, Alexis; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Edna (Bill), and brother-in-law Dr. James Forest.

Besides her loving husband Jim, Gladys was predeceased by parents Tom and Sophie Thomaszeski; spouse Allan Berube, sisters Isabelle and Diana; and brother-in-law Peter. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Sharma and the many support staff at Dulcina Hospice for the compassion and excellent care provided to Gladys during her last 17 months.

A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
