Condolences
I was Rays secretary for a number of years at BDP. He was a wonderful man to work with and I considered him to be a friend as well. My husband and I visited with him in Ottawa when we travelled across Canada. My sincere condolences go to his family.
I was a representative of an oil company many years ago when we were negotiating agreements with Newfoundland to develop major offshore oil projects. We were a client of Ray's and I worked closely with Ray for many months. Ray was an excellent contract lawyer, not pompous or haughty, just an everyday guy that was very easy to work with. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed with the tasks at hand. Ray would see this and crack a few jokes to relax me, it always worked. I feel fortunate and privileged to have worked with him and am saddened to read of his passing.
On behalf of the entire CPC we share our most sincere and heartfelt condolences.
I'm so very sorry and condolences to Rays wife and family. I met Ray over 20 years ago when I was starting out as a barber downtown. He was so kind and easy to talk to, I was so intimidated working downtown with lawyers and business men, I had come from a blue collar background and never thought I would fit it. He made it easy I learned downtown people were just that people with lives other then their offices or their titles. He was the client you looked forward to booking u made time for him to come in because he was so loyal he was always on time and was wonderful to talk with. People told me lawyers were going to be some of my worst clients and he was one of the first to disprove that comment. My favorite conversation were about our pets I loved my fur babies and he would tell me stories about his hairless cat. He would be sarcastic about his love hate relationship with it but u knew he cared all the same. I left downtown a few years ago and found out Ray had never really found someone to replace me loyal to the end that guy...made me sad I wished i had been able to cut his hair to the end he will be dearly missed!!
We were very sorry to hear of Ray's passing . We have been friends for many years and have enjoyed many great memories ,
sharing meals together and enjoying Ray's anecdotes delivered with his unique brand of sardonic humour. We remember him with warmth and kindness and send our sincere condolences to you and all his family.

Alicia: I am sorry to hear that Ray has passed on. He was one of my favorites at BD&P. He drove me home on more than one occasion, once with little Olivia in the back seat. He was always so pleasant and kind and I always felt he was a friend. My condolences to you and Olivia. RIP Ray.
I met Ray when I landed at BDP as an articling student a mere 42 years ago. I remember him as kind and approachable then and in the many years since. Most of all though I remember his sardonic, whimsical wit.....if Ray couldn't crack you up, there was something wrong with you. God speed Ray, you have left me and many others with smiles and cherished memories
