Obituary of Steven Walter Kuzma

Steve Kuzma, beloved husband of Ingrid (nee Hansen), of Calgary passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the age of 67 years.

Steve was born in Saskatoon on July 18, 1956, and lived in Saskatoon until meeting Ingrid and moving to Calgary in the mid-1970s. Steve and Ingrid returned to Saskatoon and were married on August 4, 1979. Steve and Ingrid raised their children in Saskatoon and Calgary, and later on in life made homes in Ancaster and Mississauga, and also returned to Saskatoon and Calgary. Steve was a long-time employee of Engineered Air until his retirement in June 2021.

Steve enjoyed all sports, especially playing a round of golf with family and friends and following the Blue Jays and Roughriders games both live and on TV. He loved music like the blues, Johnny Cash, and the Rolling Stones. Steve enjoyed working in the yard and house and was happy to give back to his community including through participation with the congregations at All Saints Lutheran (Calgary) and Good Shepherd Lutheran (Saskatoon). Steve was dedicated to his work at Engineered Air, and proud to often take on a mentorship role to those junior to him.

Steve’s gentle demeanor, generosity and sense of humour earned him many friends, and spending time with family and friends was a priority. Steve loved watching his grandchildren grow and sharing with them his favourite pastimes, whether it be mini golf or the Blue Jays. Steve had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed travel, with Steve and Ingrid’s last major holiday (and favourite) being to Italy in Summer 2019. Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Steve was predeceased by his parents Alison and Walter Kuzma and his sisters Terry Morrow and Kelly Start.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Ingrid, children, and grandchildren (Courtney, Daryl, Sienna, Everett, and Dominic King; and Chris, Kaeleigh, Roger, and Miriam Kuzma), his brother John Kuzma, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
