Condolences
My good wife Shauna met Margaret when they shared a hospital room in Calgary quite a few years back and developed a friendship together and we stopped by to visit whenever we were back in town. The picture of Margaret on this website was taken by Shauna during her last visit with her in back in July 2022. It turns out that Margaret lived around the corner from where I grew up as a child in Brentwood at 4 Butte Place. It was fun to see the old neigborhood on our visits with Margaret and to see her house that was built with the same look and feel as my own childhood home. We send our condolences to family and friends Roger and Shauna
Margit was my cousin. I visited her and Laszlo, her dear husband, when I lived in Montana. I also visited her later, after I moved to New Jersey. She was a wonderful person. I regret that we did not have the opportunity to spend more time together. She had a rather tumultuous life in Hungary due to the impact of the second world war but she managed to grow up into a well-educated, intelligens woman in a loving family. Leaving Hungary in the midst of the revolution, eventually settling in Calgary with Laszlo, helped he find peace and personal happiness. But she never forgot her roots. She could recite poems of famous Hungarian poets, talk about well known Hungarian greats: statesmen, writers, scientists, warriors, artists, etc. I was amazed at the depth of her knowledge. I will never forget her and will miss her all my life.
Condolences to Margit’s family and her friends who have been so faithful to her over the years. I am glad that I had the chance to see her a couple times in the last 10 years or so. She was as delightful as I remember her from my childhood. A very caring woman whom my mom thought very highly of.
