November 1952 - Lac St Charles, Quebec

August 23, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Charles Nadeau of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the age of 70 years.

Charles graduated from Cégep Rivière de Loup with a degree in Outdoor Recreation. He had a varied career, which included   working in a group home for Vecova and in long term care as an LPN. He eventually found the perfect fit when he became a certified arborist.

He moved from Quebec to Edmonton, Alberta in 1982. Charles met his future wife, Diana Wilkinson, in Edmonton in 1987. He moved with her to Calgary and then Montreal, before finally returning to Calgary.

Charles enjoyed the outdoors and nature. He was a keen reader and loved listening to a variety of music, usually while drinking coffee. He was a passionate cyclist, cross-country skier and walker. Later in life, he became an avid water colour painter.

Charles enjoyed many travels, including Africa and New Zealand. He enjoyed snorkeling, especially seeing sea turtles.

He will be most remembered for his gentleness, generosity of spirit and quirky sense of humour.

Besides his loving wife, Charles is survived by his two brothers, Gerry and Paul, and five sisters, Doris, Pauline (Raymond), Colette, Madeleine and Louise of Quebec; mother-in-law Eileen; sisters-in-law, Janet Wilkinson (Jim Mckee), Susan Wilkinson (Christer Hallberg), Gillian Wilmot (Chris) and Pamela Wilkinson; brother-in-law Greg Wilkinson, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Charles was predeceased by his father Pierre, mother Dorothy, sisters, Pierette and Mary, and sister-in-law Tammy.

Thank you to the many people that helped us on this difficult journey-playing chess, doing art, going for milkshakes, making meals or just being present. Thank you to his many amazing caregivers as well. It would have been impossible without all of you.
