September 1, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Charles Arthur Watch announce his peaceful passing after a short illness, at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, AB on September 1, 2023, at the age of 76 years.

Charles (Chuck) leaves to mourn his loving wife of 24 years, Mary Murphy-Watch, his daughters and sons-in-laws, Tracy, and Richard Burton; Mikki-Lynne and Roy Scabar; the mother of his children Jeanette Watch; and grandchildren, Ryan Burton, Shelby Burton, Charles Scabar, and Ethan Scabar. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Lynne Jordan, niece Catherine Jordan, nephew Scott Watch, stepchildren, Scott Conway and Krista Vincent and a large circle of family and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Bertram Watch and his brother Ian Watch.

From a young age, Chuck had a passion for adventure. He loved aviation and had many fond memories of piloting his own plane during his younger years. Chuck was very knowledgeable and enjoyed sharing the many facts that he had acquired over time through his many travels and adventures with family and friends. He loved watching sports, especially hockey, and discussed the sport in detail. He also enjoyed golf and spent a great deal of his retirement golfing with his wife Mary.

Chuck was also very creative. He loved writing and was a self-published author. He began a family musical tradition, playing guitar and singing songs while members of his family joined in.  He passed on this love of music to his children and grandchildren.

He began his career as an Air Traffic Controller in the Northwest Territories. As an entrepreneur, Chuck started and ran several small businesses. Life eventually took Chuck to Calgary, where he finished his career with the City of Calgary, retiring from the Transportation Engineering Department.

A Celebration of Chuck’s Life will be announced at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Chuck’s family here.
