Learning of the tragic passing of Rob Pearce, I paused to reflect on an amazing 44-year friendship. How time flies! He was an outstanding (young) man when we first met and has always been that.
Rob and I met at UBC in the fall of 1979 - I was in second year, and Rob was starting first year Engineering. We were acquaintances at school, but when Rob arrived in Calgary a few years after UBC, our friendship took hold and remained to this day.
I thought what better way to honour his memory than to share a few details of those early years that some people may not be aware of. The attached is my memories of some interesting UBC Engineering times and reflections on my friendship with Rob over the years. Oh, the stories we could tell....!
Again, I can't express enough my deepest condolences to the Pearce family on their untimely loss.
