Obituary of Marlene Claire Lynge

Marlene Claire Lynge, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

Marlene started her working career as a speed typist. Bright, capable, and dedicated, she was employed at several well-known architectural firms during the 1970s and 1980s. As the firms grew, she was offered bigger roles and improved her skills to become an excellent accountant.

No workplace was ever the same after Marlene arrived. She had a terrific sense of humour and always kept everyone on their toes; no person or topic was ever off limits.

Singing and music were always the biggest part of her life. A gifted soloist, Calgary audiences enjoyed her performances in operas and musicals, where she made many life-long friends. She sang with many choirs over the years, and it was not unusual for her to break out in an aria to liven up a lunch or workday.

Lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Pat, and as a wonderful Auntie to nieces Correen (Dan) and Heather (Brian); great-nieces Susannah and Hannah; and great-grandnephew, Dallas. Marlene was predeceased by her parents Otto and Ingeborg Lynge, brother Norman, and nephew Bradley.

As per Marlene’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Marlene’s Life will be held at the Danish Canadian Club (727 11 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2R 0E3) on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
