Obituary of Scott Donald McLean
April 15, 1969 - Regina, Saskatchewan
October 23, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
Scott McLean of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the age of 54 years.
Scott was born in Regina, SK, on April 15, 1969.
He moved on to Calgary, AB, with his parents and lived there for the remainder of his life.
Scott graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Art Illustration.
Scott accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his trip to Minneapolis, MN, USA, and getting a recognition award for his hard work, and contributions with the design of the Championship Rings that year. He also was an amazing artist, and his works will be admired, and cherished for years to come.
Scott enjoyed hunting and fishing and sketching or painting. He also had a passion for British humour, and watched many a DVD and his laughter when watching would be a testament to that.
Scott’s most memorable vacation was when he went to the Dominican Republic. It was a first for him to go somewhere tropical, and he enjoyed every minute in the ocean and on land.
He will be most remembered for his love and care of his mother when in nursing home, and how he touched everyone he met. He was kind and gentle and didn’t believe he deserved the same. His laughter and heart are forever embedded in our memory.
Scott is survived by his cousins and friends, Cheryl (spouse), and Piper and Groot his beloved pets who miss him dearly. Scott was predeceased by his parents Irene McLean and Howard Mclean.
There will be a Celebration of Life and Scattering of ashes in April 2024, close to his 55 birthday. Friends and family will be notified once arrangements are in place. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
“Scotty to many
But to me he was Scott
His laughter was booming
When he watched his Brit Box
He lit up a room
He had personality plus
But he didn’t believe
How much he meant to all of us
He struggled with thoughts
Of which I wasn’t aware
That he didn’t much matter
Or that we didn’t care
He was an amazing human being
That was taken all too soon
I wish he saw things differently
Than the ever-present doom
We know now he’s at peace
But that doesn’t change the pain
Nor the loss and emptiness we feel
That we won’t see him again
You weren’t just a friend and husband
You were so much more than this
There aren’t enough words or ways
To show how much you’re missed
We will love you for forever
Count the blessings for your life
And I’ll forever be grateful
That I got to be your wife
My heart is sad and empty
I know I’m not alone
Your friends and family share the loss
As our Father takes you home
Find your peace in heaven
That you were missing here on earth
But know that you have always mattered
Right from your very birth
Our love for you will always be
So spread your wings and fly
Until we meet again one day
It’s time to say good bye.”
